Recent Regulatory Actions in Minnesota

As an active Hugo Minnesota lawyer, I keep an eye on what the regulators are imposing for sanctions on licensees. Once in a while, I put up some of the sanctions I find more notable. This week is one of those times.

Bullion dealer Asset Marketing paid a $30,000 civil penalty and investigation costs for deceptive sales tactics and failing to inform consumers of a shortened time frame for bringing legal actions against the company.

A real estate agent's license was suspended for failure to comply with a child support order.

A real estate management firm operating since 1978 without a license paid a $15,000 civil penalty.

An appraiser in Mahtomedi, MN paid a civil penalty of $2,500 based on allegations she misrepresented comparable sales, failed to identify subject completely, failed to maintain an adequate work file, and failed to adequately support the highest and best use.

Regulatory defense is a cornerstone of my law practice. If you have questions on defending yourself against an investigation, call me before you provide any information to the government.
