Regulatory Update: Administrative Sanctions

As you regular readers know, every once in a while I check on what sanctions have been imposed by Minnesota's regulators. The professions of building contractors, real estate agents, mortgage originators and others going from Duluth to Hugo to Marshall are all answering to the State. Here's a sampling:

  • A $2,000 penalty for an appraiser who failed to disclose exposure time in an appraisal report and the relationship and potential conflict of interest in an appraisal assignment.
  • A bullion dealer paid a $15,000 penalty for conducting bullion product transactions with MN consumers in amounts substantially exceeding statutory thresholds without first registering with the Department.
  • A slew of insurance agents paid a $500 civil penalty for reporting continuing education classes before actually taking the class. C'mon folks, that's a no brainer!
  • A notary public had her commission revoked after she affixed her signature and notary stamp without witnessing the actual signing of at least one signature on a Quit Claim Deed document.

Regulatory investigations and outcomes are better with a good lawyer helping you. I have substantial experience against the Labor & Industry, the Department of Commerce, and the Attorney General's Office. Put my experience to use for your benefit.
