Is the Department of Commerce Targeting Minneapolis Appraisals?

I was recently provided with a link to a very interesting web cast. The President of a real estate appraiser group stated the Minnesota Department of Commerce is essentially targeting appraisers who appraised real property in Minneapolis after January 1, 2020.

Potentially the Department of Commerce has lied in communications with appraisers, or at least been deceptive. According to the web cast, there is a belief that the Department, and not a third-party, may actually be the complainant. I would consider that, at a minimum, to be deceptive compared to language I've known the Department to use in initial requests for information of appraisers.

There are appraisers in Stillwater, Blaine, Hugo, and many other cities who's appraiser work brought them into Minneapolis. All such appraisers are potentially subjects of investigation. In my experience, the Department cannot be trusted. They'll present an offer, change it within an hour, then use what I consider to be grossly untrustworthy and incompetent counsel, to botch settlement negotiations. I cannot urge you enough to not trust the Department, its personnel, or its counsel.
