Words and Phrases I Enjoy

With short, cryptic, and symbol riddled communications overtaking the world, I offer this as a bit of a musing on words or phrases I enjoy using, but which aren't common in daily life.

Philistine: a person who is hostile or indifferent to culture and the arts, or who has no understanding of them

Asinine: extremely stupid or foolish

Perhaps: the meaning is widely known, but I find this word is wildly underused and, when used, creates a good deal of attention and contemplation with your counterpart

Like pouring water on a duck's back

Go along to get along

He doesn't know his elbow from his ass: A little crude, but it sure makes the point clear.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander: I like using this one when someone's being greedy or has excessive demands or a skewed sense of what's "fair"
